Visual Arts and Design “Cogito ergo sum”. I share the perspective of Rene Descartes who defines himself through contemplation. I use the Surrealist’s concept of the assemblage to challenge orthodox and conventional thinking. Perceptions in religion, politics and evolution engage my attention. I aspire to challenge the perspectives on particular issues encompassed by these traditions. The unpredictability when combining found objects, the narratives embedded within these objects and the use of organic raw materials form the basis of my methodology. These objects enable me to eke out new perspectives on the relationship between traditional thinking and art. Engaging with societal and environmental waste furthers my personal need for practicing conservation while challenging cultural norms using art.
