As a designer of both Maori and New Zealand European descent I seek out to incorporate aspects from both cultures into the development of my process. With my practice mainly focused around contemporary Maori Design, I use traditional Maori pattern and European art forms, as influence in creating my work. Read & Write is a project that I designed, which will aid children to initiate their creative right side of their brain when learning to read words. I have used graphic imagery as the main feature of the game where instead of having the words, I have designed a set of visual images on cards. These images are based on a variety of shapes, numbers, animals and objects. The aim of this project was to create a different enjoyable way of learning for children.
